Starting to get dark early here so only had an hour from 3pm onwards.
But got done.
Topped up the neighbours screenwash and checked over the water and oil levels.
Wheels not looking too bad.
General traffic film and light dirt build up.
Not looking dirty really.
Wheel cleaner and fallout remover applied.
Degreaser applied as a pre-wash.
Shampoo applied as a foam.
Car rinsed and then sealant applied via another foam lance.
Car rinsed again. Looking much better for it.
Mats I bought for the car vacuumed and feel great. Lovely very soft deep pile.
Final exterior walk around. Some after pictures. Not dried as it’s a bit cold to dry and would leave dew and smears. The Hydrofoam doesn’t leave any residue, so It’s all good.
Final walk around the interior, checking nothing was left out.
Found a couple of heel scratches on the door sill, quickly removed and protected.
She’s a great little car.
Perfect daily driver for cities but just as happy and nice to drive on open twisty roads and long journeys sitting on the motorway.

Just about. When the rain and cold let up.
We've had two storms in as many months which has curbed the number of cars I can get done.

Question for you- do you think applying the soap as foam is beneficial or is more of a time saver for a professional detailer and what foam emitting device do you recommend?
And what do you use to dry your cars? I’ve always used a sheepskin chamois but yesterday the kids decided to take mine and sit on for a picnic. So...I have an opportunity to try something new.

It's too bad that you aren't close by, I don't put much care into the exterior of my cars. I'll need to try to get my local mobile detailer out next weekend if the weather is good enough to get my wife's car polished up. Early winter in North Carolina gives me a decent opportunity.

When you say ‘soap as foam’, do you mean the snow foam pre-wash or shampoo?
Personally I use either a degreaser, citrus prewash spray (both applied via a regular sprayer) or snow foam applied via PA Snow Foam Lance (aka U.S., Snow Canon).
I’ll apply the shampoo as a foam (a thinner foam) to the car and go around using the two bucket method (letting the foam continue to soften any dirt before I get to it) to remove any remaining dirt.
The snow foam lance I use is traditionally called the PA Snow Foam lance and originally from Italy but now made all over the place . Most of it is made from machined brass with plastic nozzle, dials and attachment.
Drying the car is better and more varied than it used to be. Chamois are awful. Be they real leather or synthetic they can inflict so much damage.
The method these days is microfibre drying towels that you can wipe over the car or if you have soft paint, dark coloured car that’s prone to micromarring, etc... the patting method may be better in that you lay the towel over an area and then pat the towel down to absorb the water. You can also use blowers to blow the car dry or use water and a drying aid.
The water method aka sheeting the car dry. Is where you take a hosepipe, remove any attachments and let the water run over the car, collecting any water droplets as the water runs off.
You can then follow up with using a quick detailer or stand alone sealant such as CarPro Reload, Gtechniq C2v3, Gyeon Cure, etc... as a drying aid to both dry the car and top up any existing protection on the car or give the car some protection.

These days it’s so much easier to look after your vehicle with the right tools.
The Polo took one hour to do as I use tools and products to make life easier and more efficient using foam lances, pressure washer, cleaning agents, etc...
The Polo is my neighbours car and I just did her partners Audi A1, again, only an hour.

Thanks!
I meant foaming the shampoo on, I haven’t been using a separate prewash product or degreaser except perhaps a bug remover when I intend to follow the wash with a wax application.
We have hard water that spots badly if not dried off thoroughly. I’ll have to give some microfiber products a try.

If you aren’t using a separate prewash. Foam the shampoo on and allow to dwell for a couple of minutes, then rinse the car then re-apply more shampoo as a wash agent.
If you rinse the car, then follow it up with an open hose rinse to collect as much of the droplets as possible then use a quick detailer or sealant to further dry the car.
Most swirls, micromarring, spider legs, etc... are caused in the wash and drying process so you want to use minimal physical contact between you and the car.
